How to split PDF files

Steps

  1. Choose the PDF file you want to split.
  2. Pick how to split it — into separate files, or a range of pages as one new PDF.
  3. Download the resulting file or files, and open each one to check it starts and ends on the right pages.

When this helps

Pulling one chapter, one form, or a few pages out of a long document to send on their own, instead of sharing the whole file.

Limits

Splitting copies pages as they are; it does not edit the text on a page, re-order pages, or repair a damaged file. To re-order pages, use the Reorder PDF pages tool; to pull out a single range without splitting the rest, use the Extract PDF pages tool.
